I lost to a Honda CRX...or did I?

Last month I pulled up next to Honda CRX. This thing had a tailpipe bigger than a soccerball. It sounded terrible and had 17" wheels on it. He rolls down his window and asked if I'd like to pop my Datsun's cherry. Nope. He wasn't listening because he starts reving his 4-cyl for all its worth and floors it when the light turns green. He nails through the intersection before I make it off the line, and he won. Thats right he won. What did he win? Well considering 3 seconds later he broadsided a police car I would say he won a night in jail, and more fines than I care to imagine. Of course I really couldn't help myself, so as I cruised by I waved at him as he was most likely crying.

Its true, around here a lot of the rice rockets ( rocket..haha) are smashed in. This one dude that comes into my store bought a honda for 5000$ then smashed into the back of a stopped car at a red light. Then put another 4500 into the little car in wings and fins and paint, giant tach,... blaa blaa then brought it over for me to see (stock 4 banger still under the hood) I just looked at him and said <b>"it's still slow hahahahaha and I will blow your doors off in my 400$ 240z" <b>hahahaha what a fool.. for the almost 10,000 $$$ he has in the piece of crap I could have built a nice zcar that's for sure.. I had a good burn with a honda CRX on the race track last year I was ahead of my pack of cars on the final warm down lap when this crx dude over took me, I thought no way buddy so I nailled the throttle and we blasted past him much to his anoyance.
He got a good thrashing.

If it took him three seconds to get to the middle of the intersection, even figuring an 8 lane street, or 4 lanes per side, and figuring the cop to be in the left most lane, that means 3 seconds to go across 3 lanes.

Now figuring each lane to be approx 10-12 feet (I could be wrong) that means either 10ft/sec or 12ft/sec. Which translates to: either 6.82mph or 8.18mph over all speed....

Hmmm, and the cop couldn't avoid him?

Ok, let's presume only 2 lane road, one each side, which would mean maybe 8 to 10 feet....no, that's even slower as then it's 8 ft in 3 seconds.

Good morning all. I have a story from last night. Now I don't claim to be a "Ricer", but I was driving my wifes car (the Z is sick) while delivering pizza. She owns a Kia Sephia. Here is a pic.
Now I have done some work to it, not much, just a K&N air filter, NGK Spark, Ractive muffler(1 1/2" outlet), and not to menchon, IT'S AN AUTOMATIC. She cant drive a 5-speed. Anyway, while driving I saw the 5" tailpipe, and the clear tail lights. Honda Civic. Had V-Tech all over it. He tried to get me to roll start. I waited untill he punched it. Then I took the overdrive off and chased after him, while going up-hill, I got him. In a KIA? Now if I had the Z running, I woulden't even give it a second thought to blow his doors off. Great story though, cops can be in the right place at the right time.

my 4-cyl 1999 Toyota Camry is auto and cuts out at 119 or 122mph. It actually accelerates decent too- everything thinks it's the V-6.

Here's my list for qualifications to be a ricer:
-Have someone else install EVERYTHING on your car, including the shift knob
-Have a bowling ball-sized exhaust tip
-Think the exhaust tip will give you horsepower
-More stickers than you have torque
-Putting a "Type-R" badge on anything other than a genuine Civic Type-R (and no, you don't have one)
-Putting a "GT-R" sticker on anything other than a genuine GT-R
-If you think adding a body kit improves your aerodynamics enough to give you an extra 20mph in your top speed
-If you install one body kit piece at a time
-If you install your kit and don't paint it
-If you more than 1 set of fog/driving lights
-If you car is an automatic but you shift it netural abnd Drive 2 and Low to make people think you're working a clutch
-If you don't know how to drive a manual
-If you think looks are more importaint than speed
-If you don't know who Nickolius (spelling) Otto is
-If you can't name more than 10 engine parts
-If you have a fake electronic blow-off valve speaker mounted under your hood
-If you have a fake intercooler mounted behind your front bumper
-If you have a turbine-shaped impeller mounted in your exhaust to get the "whirl" sound of a turbo, but you're too stupid to know that the "whirl" is supposed to come from under the hood you moron
-If you try to race every single person and their mother at a stop light
-If you think you're hard because you can sqeaul the tires
-If you have 18 or larger inch wheels on your Civic
-Your knoweledge on suspension consist of "It has springs"

Damn, I could go on, but I don't want to make too big of a post. Ricers piss me off. I don't hate Civics or Integras or anything, just the drivers. That's what pisses me off.

Watch out... the new 06 civic will be coming with the 1.8L 140hp motor. A much better starting point than the non Si 127 now. Of course that's still not SE-R 165hp... on the other hand the new Si now no longer a hatchback, has a 2.0L and 197hp and that IS more than the Spec-V's 175!?!?!?! Hmmm, Nissan better get on the ball. The honda only has 139lb-ft of torque vs. the Spec-V's 180, but I don't know if it will help.

I'll put my stock '72 up against ANY stock '72 Honda ANYDAY!!! LOL

It is so fast I raced him in my firebird once and off the line he killed me, just to add insault he hit the spray and shot blue flames out the pipes. Here in Tucson we have a lot of fun, curvey roads and you NEVER see any of the rice-a-roni twits on them. They "race" only on the main, straight as a board, surface streets in town. Give a Z a couple turns and it will destroy a front drive ricer any day.

A little Honda Civic comes rolling up, nods at him, and they both take off, before the Corvette driver can blink, the Civic is gone. SOME people know what they're doing. I remember I was driving on the 3rd of July, almost 2 years ago, and this mustang full of people pulls up next to me. My Z is running like shit, without me knowing it was filling the 4th cylinder up full of water, so I had to feather the throttle to keep it running. The guy takes that as a sign that I want to race, so he decides to show off for the girls in his car and burns his tires from the stoplight. What he didn't see though is that there was a cop waiting at the light perpendicular to where we were, so after he shot off looking all cool, a cop comes flying up and pulls him over, gives him a ticket for speeding, racing, etc. Another one of his friends decided to chase me down in their other car, to tell me that it's my fault that he got a ticket. I laughed, because he's the dumbass, not me.

As for some rice being fast, I'd agree. My friend has a stock 93 BMW 325is, and it's fairly fast for what it is (my dad's stock 91 Laser AWD Turbo ate it for dinner), but we went out racing the ricers, and there was this integra that we were messing with. He gets up next to us at the light, and burns his crappy fwd. We take off, get about a car length away, and then the integra turns into a damned nascar, with all the noise it was making, and took off like nothing esle. The guy was just messing with us. Shamed my friend and his car, lol.

Matman and I were coming home from a track day at Buttonwillow, and we were getting on the freeway and there was this MORON in a riced out Civic getting on with us. His gigantic body kit had all the useless vents with the chicken wire, you know the type. Anyway I could see him swerving around and passing people and generally being a jackass in the rearview mirror. When he pulled up along side, I looked at him, dropped to 3rd and just left him. It was so bad I thought he didn't go or missed a shift or something. So I slowed up, waited for him again and did it again. By this time Mat is laughing his ass off. I waited again. This time Mat shows him 4 fingers, and I walk the guy in 4th gear. I slow again. 5th gear, same thing. His engine is SCREAMING and my Z is at maybe 3500 rpm in 5th still accelerating away from him. My Z had SU's and 3.70 gears at the time and I was walking this guy in 5th gear at maybe 70 mph. That's pathetic. We were pretty much laughing in his face at this point. He kept trying these insane passes on the right and I wouldn't let him by, so finally the moron passed a SEMI IN THE EMERGENCY LANE ON A BRIDGE. Retard. I let him go at that point more out of a concern for the rest of the people on the road than anything else.

Where I lived in CA we had a bunch of riced out 85ish Supras and Celicas. We even had one that lived right across the street. A friend and I went over and talked to the guys about going to one of our monthly autoxes. None of them would go, they all made excuses about needing their CAI or their body kit or whatever before they could actually race the car. Funny, cause they had no problem driving 50 mph down our residential street where the kids play all the time, and they sure would rev on me when we were in STOP AND GO traffic. Stupid stupid stupid...

Civic's will always be grocery getters to me no matter what Honda puts under the hood. Preludes are a different story. Unfortunately todays Civic ricer really only risks others personal safety in their relentless pursuit of mediocrity. Youth is wasted on the young I guess.
