Anyone tried one of these for a resonator and pipe?:

I know it's only 1 11/16" but for a stock setup the price seems good at about $100 from carparts.com or partsamerica.com

What sized pipe do you have coming in from the collector? Seems like it would be a little small...have you asked a local muffler shop what they could do for you?

it has several slightly different sizes, all under 2", looks like through the years when they've done exhaust work on it they never cut off all of the old pipe and so there are couple inch long left overs in there.

It is just the stock manifold with stock downpipe.

Haven't checked with local shops, the price on it seemed like a good inexpensive way to replace the old mix of pipes and add a resonator.

On my 73 240 I have 2.5 inch pipe from a header to a turbo muffler and it sounds great. It has a nice bark when I shift at about 3000 RPM. I would definately go with at least a two inch pipe.

I believe 2-1/4" was determined to be the optimum size pipe for a 240Z. I believe it maintains good gas velocity throughout its length. You don't want to slow the exhaust down either through increased volume or loss of heat. The latter is harder to control.

For a stock 240Z (no mods), 2.0" isn't bad either, as long as it's mandrel bent.
