GT-R Fibreglass grills available

Finally, challenge fibreglass have completed making replica's of the FRP GT-R grill that i bought from japan.

Challange fibreglass, have the full kit now, including rear GT-R bobtail, overfenders and the front lip.

their stuff is very good, and nice thickness! especially considering what they had to work with (warped original)!

now, does anyone know what the proper colour of the grill should be? the ones from japan came in a colour similar to the rear beaver panel (a metalic grey)

Though it is difficult enough to have him ship it interstate, not sure how he would ship internationally, not sure what your after, but if it was the grill.. the grill is just long enough to be under the postage size restrictions, but this leaves no room for proper packaging.. my original grill (the one Phil modelled the mould from) certainly didn't make it through EMS post from japan unscathed..

the 240K i may be getting has already some repop GT-R parts, but i want a spare set of the grille, the boot spoiler, and the front fascia spoiler. you're saying down under there is a size limit to overseas packages? you mean for the regular post? what about for larger packages? stuff is shipped internationally every day that is larger. how do you get around that?

There are definitely limits on packages being sent through the mail. And they differ from country to country, so what may be ok to send out from the US, it would not be acceptable by the Australians. The USPS web site has a lot of information on this. The big stuff is shipped by air cargo or ship.

I know, because I shipped a lot of that stuff.

Post is by far the cheapest method, but i guess DHL / Fedex etc. are all options too.. as long as you are prepared to pay for it :(

Miles, talking of shipping you wouldn't happen to know of a company i could contact to get a large item (full exhaust system, weight of around 85lbs) shipped from the states to Aus? i have tried trawling the internet, and apart from the main courier companies (at around US$900+) i havn't come up with much.. any tips :)

What is the go with Phillip??

I have waited over 2 weeks to get a price for the overfenders to be sent to my place, I have had to call him 4 times and have had numerous promises of him getting back to me but nothing has happened. In the end I have had to organise my own courier as he is just too much of a numpty to be able to do it himself. :stupid: :stupid:

His phone has run out of power on two occasions as well, I feel he needs to get his act together a little bit more.

I'll let you all know what the quality is like from the ones I'm getting shortly.

Hi Andrew,

yes, it takes a lot of chasing to get things from him unfortunately (it took a long time to get the moulds completed), i have him making up another front grill for me, but i am not sure how long that will take (though i am not desperate for it to happen shortly so i am not too worried).. he does get it done in the end, but it sounds like there is a lot of commercial work they do that unfortunately soaks up most of their time.

The grill is $120 or $140 I didn't write down which was the front fender and which was the grill. I didn't get a price for the bod tail.

He's charging me $270 for the four overfenders but this price was given to me after I told him I just wanted the overfenders and nothing else. Is this what you paid Kent?

Phil has finally contacted me in regards to sending them so progress is being made. I'll check with him again tomorrow and post the exact prices for all items.

i am not 100% sure, but the grill is far more expensive than that i think.. around $300 maybe? there is a lot of work involved plus it includes the metal grill and brackets..

$270 sounds familiar for the flares too (although it was a long time ago now!)

The $120 & $140 prices must have been for the bob tail and the front fender/lip sorry noodle.

Tyr Phil on his mobile, you can usually get him on that unless he hasn't bought a new battery yet then you'll get him for about 2 minutes.

I have just recieved my arches and I'm not too happy with the quality of them, They don't seem to fit any panels very well at all. Has anyone else bought these and had the same problems?

The front arch ones are the worst and both my panels are undamaged so it has to be the fiberglass arches that are the wrong size.

I have just realised that my front arches are modified and they are extended at the bottom to go over the 100mm x 50mm box sections that were used to strengthen the car when the roof was taken off.

It wasn't the arches after all.

what are the time zone differences between Los Angeles and Australia?

3pm your time is about 8am the next day in Australia, so if you call any time after 3-4pm you should be able to get them (except on a Friday afternoon, as that is Saturday here in Oz)

I will have to send one of my arches back to get replaced as after close inspection one of the front ones has a stuffed end section. Instead of being squareish at the end it is deformed and has a pointy end that is different to the other side.

that sucks :( the last pair of flares that i got from him were very good (not as thick as the ones i already have, but certainly not deformed)

at the moment, he is the only one that i know of (hence why i gave them my grill and front spoiler to make a mould of).. yuo can always get them from japan... but it will cost you a fortune in shipping (in which case there are better, rarer things to get :) .. )
