Hi Guys,
Well, it will soon be time for me to decide on a colour for my C110 GT-R lookalike..
I was pretty keen on either going with the S15 Silver (which apparently is very similar to the original GT-R silver colour), or to go with a darker metallic silver, Lexus Graphite (as seen on many IS200's)..
i love that lexus graphite colour, and i think it would accentuate the black arches etc.. too.. but.... i just don't know... maybe it would look a little too dark (it does look grey in some light, a little black in others)
Also.. i need a matching colour scheme for the engine bay (highlights on the RB25 head / intake plenum etc.) any suggestions? i was thinking gold or red and black (s20 like). Does anybody have any good links to some good pics of the S20 engine?

I have been considering painting my 240Z Silver because I hear that light colors hide minor imperfections in the body work...
Any of those colors would look nice on a GT-R. Post some pictures of the final result.

yeah, you are probably right, i have another 240k which i sprayed White and black (to go with the japanese cop car theme), whilst the paint job was pretty crap (hey, it was my first ever attempt), the white did look a lot cleaner, the black showed up the ripples in the paint and overspray fairly easily.
I also know (from owning an R33 Skyline GT-R), white on a car with pumped out guards, makes it look alot fatter than it does in silver.

I say silver (cos white has already been done :cheeky:). Have you considered Bayside Blue? That could come out nice and would tie the whole "retrotech" theme together... Oh and there are plenty of S20 pics in the gallery of this website.

I'm a purist so I voted for the Nissan Silver. Is there any way to find the original color code if you wanted to go that route?

sorry for being a little ignorant about this, but how do paintshops keep track of all the colour codes when they mix paint... if i found the GTR code, could a modern shop be able to match that colour if i don't have a sample?
any one got any suggestions on engine colours?

I would avoid thde graphic color for safety reasons. I had a charcoal grey car once and it got hit 5 times in one year. A friend of mine still has a charcoal grey car and it continues to get hit as well. I guess the color of the car seems to blend in with the pavement and buildings and people with their heads up their posteriors don't see it until it's too late and then they run into you. When asked, everyone who hit me claimed they did not see the car until it was too late.
Now my bright silver Audi has not had the same issue, so I will have to assume its just the dark grey color that has the issue :-)

I think the trick would be to find a shop that had a catalog that went far enough back to have the Skyline codes. A search on Google might turn up an electronic version?

Hi Khughes, Im just in the process of getting my c110 painted the darker nissan grey. Cant wait to see what it will look like. I was planning to paint the engine bay either the same color or black to match cam covers etc

I can get the paint code for my 1979 C210 which is in Silver and I guess simular to the older ones. Also here in England you can take any paint code in the world almost and get them to make up how ever much you want at the decent paint shops.
Both bad pics of the car but give an idea of the colour.

Thats not there now, was just an idea that didn't work, so dont worry.
Will be having a rear spoiler but more subtle.

yeah i am still 90% sure i am going to go with the S15 Silver, only because now i have my engine painted sand brown (meant to be gold), it looks so good against the S15 Silver engine bay!
so i am looking at S15 silver, with black GTR fenders, Black mirrors and charcoal coloured 16x7 SL15 superlites (assuming an ET12 and backspace of 112mm fits)

guys.. i have had a huge about face on the colour :(
i made the mistake of studying the C110 GT-R in Gran Tourismo 4 on the PS2, and you can get the car in silver, white and red... although it isn't hugely realistic but the red looked fantastic compared to the other colours... especially with the black fenders/mirrors etc.
so i am pretty keen on the original red colour... does anyone have any leads on how i could find out the original C110 2000GTR red colour code?

Red, geez. That'll sure be different! Bold, I like it. I will try to get the code. Miles, do you know the code for C10 red? That's probably the same or very similar. Perhaps Alan Thomas would know...

Actually, that green doesn't look bad on 510's.
How about this?

Not the greatest picture obviously, but still get an idea of paint combo. I actually like this. I wonder how he got those wide front wheels/tires to work without rubbing?

trust me, bayside blue was high on the priority list (i would love one in an R34), but i have since decided that i am going to stick with either an orginal red, or original silver/grey
just need to decide which.. i am still favouring towards grey, my girlfriend has other ideas

Hi all,I have a yellow and a red Z, I also have a black/silver 280ZX and a sand-metallic (Gold?) 300 ZX. I can fully agree to that safety argumentation, often people excuse when they cut my lane not having seen the sand-metallic car clearly. The black-silver one has problems in the dark, the safest color is yellow (see my gallery). My personal dream-color would be that metallic blue-green-grey mixture that Porsche once had, calle "Petrol".
