Cool I have been doing a lot of researching online and I have found a few guys in Houston who claim to have done it, so I am going to meet with some of them, I will keep you guys updated on it as I go along my project.
I do not own a Z right now but I am planning to buy one, maybe I'll just go ahead and go the classical way of dropping the 280Z engine on a 240Z

It seems almost like a dishonor to put an SR20 in a Z. Don't get me wrong the SR is a beautiful engine. But IMO it simply does not have the sound I would normally associate with a Z. Gimme a 6 or an 8 NA or FI any day over a 4.

I don't like it either but I have a friend who has a shop in Los Angeles and they have done them. They're fairly cheap to do since he gets the whole front clip for $1500. I, personally, would rather see the SR20DET in a 510 or 521-620-720 etc. Spmetjhing that you would expect to see a 4 banger in. I once thought of putting one in my 320. Talk about a 'death machine!'

Hi AV 240z I remember you posting about your stolen Z on Zdriver a couple of years back did you ever get her back? :ermm:
I like the way the Silver Z is turning out looks wise have you put Watanabe's on it? They look really good whatever they are. Your daily driver looks like fun seems you and your dad are both Z aholics.
Cheers.
Gavin.
PS: Site design is coming along 2.

oh we deffinitely can not stay away from the Z cars. but about the stolen Z yea we got it back but in a total of 15 pieces, frame was cut in 3, roof chopped off and everything taken out. they caught the asses who did it so im happy with that. and yes on the silver Z they are watanabe R-type

not to sound like a n00b or anything but that was the car that got me into 240z's. i was familiar with 510's and the likes but not the 240z before that. after reading the article i did all kinds of research and have been a fanatic since.

Haha, true, guess i should have read the post, I'm just used to most people bashing SR's in Z's mainly becuase of its lesser cylinders and smaller displacment. :P
Anyone elts interested in seeing another SR powered Z click here..

SR240Z - Nice gauges. How much did those set you back and where did you get them?

They are the older Defi link Gauges. You can find local dealers here: http://www.defi-shop.com/product/meter/meter_top.html
They are Very pricey gauges since they are electronic and must use a defi control unit. I scored them at a super sale a few months back at a local shop that was overstocked, Half price I payed, total for all gauges was $540.00 Thats without the controller. For that setup prepare to pay around $1300+ :(
I chose them for the record and reply options, neat setup and that they resemble the stock Z gauges in a way (blackface/white numbers/Green ilumination)

Have either of you driven these cars yet? Did it feel underpowered? Have you run it at the track?

Hmmm, interesting. Now for a few questions...
How much does one of these conversions cost?
Is SR20 engine lighter than your standard L24?
Btw av240z - I really like your silver Z especially thoses wheels. Mind sharing with us where you got them.

how much lighter is it? about 200 lbs if not more. cost of conversion? upwards of 6-7k USD to do everything right, and some fabrication skills
