I hate to invade this forum for this but it's just part of an ongoing search for a wheel that I've not been able to locate. Did this wheel ever show up on any of the Australian Datsuns?
OK not Australia based, but I'm sure I've seen some Datsun 240K's in the UK that had those wheels, and maybe some of the smaller models as well.
You could try datman spares in the UK www.datman.co.uk he has a picture of one of those wheels on his home page.
hope it helps

Thanks, Andrew, I'll drop him a line. But I bet it would be cost prohibitive to ship from the UK to California in the USA.:ermm:

Yep.
We got those wheels on some C210 Skylines (240K for the UK).
Look real nice when cleaned up and polished.
James
These wheels were fitted to the C210 Skyline, as mentioned previously. I had a set on my Datsun 1600 (P510) - they're 14 x 5.5"
I repainted the centre black, and polished the rims - they looked sweet!

Is it cheap to ship from Australia to the west coast of the USA?
Its not hugely expensive to ship stuff from the USA to UK, especially if you don't mind waiting a month/6 weeks but I don't know about UK to USA.
Hope you get your wheel soon either way.

I have a feeling that I have seen something similar to those wheels - if not those ones on late 70s/early 80s Mitsubishi Sigmas - maybe the Wherrett specials?

The Mitsubishi Sigma Turbo model has similar rims

Thanks, but I want Datsun rims. I have a line one some in Great Brittan (Datman). It's just a matter of whether I want to pay the shipping. I'm still trying to decide.
The mitsubishi turbo are very similar even better they are 15 inch, pick them up for about $150au +

Well, I found three of them. I was walking through a local junkyard and saw three of these on a 1981 280ZX 2 + 2! They are in excellent shape but I still have the problem of finding one more. If anyone knows the whereabouts of one, I will entertain all offers.

Those are "Zweet" Stephen! They'd look great on your 78. Isn't that how it always goes when you stumble upon a cherry set of rims in a junkyard, there are only 3 or 2, never four perfect ones. Good luck in your search.

Those are the factory alloys for my 810. I already have the factory alloys on my Z. Remember I tried to buy the center caps from you? Well, I did find a set of those rims, caps and all. But back to the 810 rims, I did find two of them about a year ago but I didn't buy them because there was only two. Now, I wish I had. :stupid:

I have found one of these rims through the 'wanted to buy' section on the Skylines Australia site. He wants $50-AUD which is not a problem. That's only about $35-USD. Shipping through FedEx for one wheel is over $200! Does anyone over there know of a less expensive way to ship a wheel from Coomera Shores to the USA?

Try a search on Google, see what you can find. If you need any help from someone in Aus, give me a PM and I'll do what I can for you...

Steve, if you can give me an appropriately boxed size and weight for one of these wheels, I'll run it past Australia Post.
In my experience with mail from the States to Australia via airmail (using USPS airmail), the cost for larger boxs/parcels has been quite good, one helluva lot cheaper than UPS I can tell ya!
We can but try mate.
Regards, Jim.

You can check out how much it'll cost with Australia Post on the net. Check this link out Steve: http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/int_parcel.asp

Thanks. I checked with Australia Post and their rates are less than half of what FedEx charges. I'll take a look at USPS also.

Thanks, guys. I went with Australia Post. The total cost for the wheel and shipping is AUD$159.50 which is about USD$111. So, with a cost of $20 ea for the first three found last week in a local wrecking yard and $111 for this one, my cost is $171 for the set. I can live with that! I purchased the wheel from Jason of Coomera Shores. He is known as V8skylineMAN on the Skylines Australia site. Perhaps some of you guys know him.

Well done Steven, let us know when you receive it! Are you going to get them all professionally shined up and restored?

No, I'll just clean them up myself. The ones I found here are in really good shape and hopefully the one I'm getting will be as good.
Well done on the find, Stephen. I know V8skylineman from the Skylines Australia website (altho I've never met him). We both have V8 skylines, and live about 5 minutes from eachother. Small world, huh?
Those wheels are a cinch to clean up. I had a set that I fixed up many years ago. Just stripped the paint / lacquer off, then sanded / polished all the machined surfaces. Then I re-painted the black sections and re-polished the machined bits and it came up sweet. Took a lot of elbow grease, but cost bugger all.

Just a follow up. The other wheel arrived today! It only took eight days to ship from Coomera Shores, Australia to Fontana, Califronia, USA! I've had interstate packages take longer than that. Thanks again to Jason, Australia Post, and everyone here who gave their input. I'll post some pictures when I get them all cleaned up and mounted on the car.

I had an 810 4 door and have never seen a 810 2 door. Never knew they made them. Mine was same color. There can't be many of those 2 doors left on the road. Thats a keeper.

They were only made from 7/78-9/79. Haven't seen another one on the road in the year and a half I've had this one. In that same time period I've seen four in the junkyards and one of them was the parts car I sold to them.

It looks absolutely fantastic Stephen, just right!
Are there any car shows that you're able to take her too to show her off and win some prizes?

It's my daily driver. It still needs interior work, headliner and seats (hidden by sheepskins). The only show I ever had it in was last year and it came in second to a really clean and original 1200 hatchback (KLB110).

Looks perfect! Now, howsabouts some nice, thin bumpers?
Remind me, is the 810 the same shape as the 200B in Australia?

Yes, it's basically the same as the 200B. The front end of the 810 is extended for the 6 cyl engine. If I could find a nice set of 200B bumpers I would consider purchasing them. I am using 200B weatherstripping purchased from Rare Spares. Quite a few parts are intechangeable.

And I'd have to add shipping. I do feel like I got a good deal. But it's all relative. Could have been even cheaper if I had bought the two I saw in the junkyard a year ago. :stupid:

I agree those wheels look perfect on your 810. I don't think they'd fit anywhere else really though. See the '79 line-up below. It's got your 810 coupe on it (apparently the only model year it was available according to your production dates) and it looks like it shows those rims in the pic. This is my on my desktop now as it's got my 210 HB on it also. Cool ride stephen!
