Hi everyone, Marc (280z) and I have been talking and we want to have another meet. Last time there was 5 of us old school Z's and hopefully there will be a better turn out for this upcoming meet.

When:
The time to meet would be on a weekend obviously, but what weekend I am not sure. Lets have a meet no sooner than 2 weekends from now. Saturday or Sunday is fine with me.

Where:
I don't know, throw out some ideas. Marc and I are in the Bay area so, somewhere in that vicinity.

Okay, who ever would be interested in having a meet post here. Post when you are availible and what would be cool for a meet. The last meet that we had was a drive up Mt. Diablo. I was thinking of another drive like that and lunch, but throw out some suggestions.

How about next weekend? We attempt to have another one out at Contra Loma, there is places to BBQ, swim, fish, and LOTS of shade. After that we could go out on a drive to somewhere. I have no ideas for that.

Errr, I can't do anything next weekend. It is Mother's Day. The weekend after that would be good though.

dude contra loma sucks, no one will travel to ANTIOCH, (the most boring city in the world) to have a meet. i think we should meet at a beach or something

Boo the beach! Damn beaches... All the hot girls... ROFL I think we should go somewhere where there is a nice drive. My friend just got his SC installed in his swapped civic and my car is up and running. So let's do it!

I was also thinking of a nice drive. Marc has recommending the beach, so maybe a drive on hghway 1 would be nice. I have this Bay Area Backroads Deck, so here are some suggestions from it:

1. www.safariwest.com This would be cool. It is supposed to be like a Safari; lions, zebras, and giraffes. This is probably 1.5-2 hours away from the east bay.

2. Pescadero; it is along Highway 1 and has a cool light house. This would be a nice drive. It would probably be about 1.5-2hrs away as well.

3. Mt. Hamilton- This would be a nice technical drive and we may get some nice hiking in too. It is only 20min east of San Jose.

4. Monterey is always nice.

5. The 17 mile drive( I think it is 17?)- This is a beautiful drive near Monterey as well. From where most of us are at, it is probably 2-3 hours away.

6. The Santa Cruz mystery spot.- I have never been there, but I have always wanted to go. This is Craigs area, so maybe he could tell us about it.

I hope that some of these seem interesting. If not, say so and we can decide on a place that we will all like. We need more people!!! J/k, three people is fine, but more is better. Hehehehe.

ZONC is planning a Drive to the Oakdale Chocolate Festival on May 15th.

Participation in the car show is $20 for one day and $30 for both days with an additional $5 for registration the day of the show. Included is admission for two adults and a bag of goodies.

Normal gate hours are 9:00AM until 5:00PM so get there early for a good parking area. Admission to the festival without being in the car show is $4.00 per person, children under 12 free.

The Corvette Club is putting on the car show so let's get as many "Z"s to show up as possible.

I have some applications available, or you can use the link.

Personally, I would prefer to have a smaller meet rather than a big festival. More so 10 - 20 cars, and a nice drive, and maybe some dinner. Be able to hang out and talk with people more personally than look there is thousands of people and thousands of cars, let's walk around aimlessly and see what is going on.

I can try to set up a BBQ meet at the Z Zone in Santa Cruz. It's a nice drive down 1 from up north. Lemme know if you want me to ask the owner of the place if we can have a BBQ!

As of now, No. Still haven't had money or help to get my SU carbs sorted out. I really wish I could attend.

Anyone in the East Bay area really know SU's and be willing to check'em out, show me how to set them up? I'm tired of not being able to drive the car, but money is an issue in regard to sending it to a shop.

Ares240Z
05-02-2004, 05:53 PM
I wish I could help you out with the SUs so you could go, all I can do is rebuild carbs. I can't tune em for poo, not because I can't or don't want to, but because I don't have time to learn.

Dude! Point Reyes is awsome! What a cool cruise. Drakes Beach is great. Fresh oysters hot off the hot 55 gallon drum/BBQ right on the beach. $1 each. your choice garlic butter of marinara. Wish I could come. One of my favorite places in the world. Stop in Inverness, get a bottle o' wine and cruise out to Drakes. North and South beaches on Point Reyes are great too, but completely different. The Natural history museum is wonderful, sepecially if you bring the kiddies.

That sounds really cool, but, hmmmm. What about the threat of non-s30 Z's. I know I sound like a Z Hitler. What do you guys think? Drakes beach or no Drakes beach? Santa Cruz still sounds cool to me, but I am open for suggestions.

One thing to think about is..........Drakes Beach is often cold and grey, all day. Santa Cruz ican be that way also, but not as often from my experience.

Both are nice places, but FAR different from each other.

Santa Cruz has been very very warm and sunny lately. I'll ask the guy the Z place. But do you guys want to do it on saturday or sunday? I can't make it saturday cuz I gotta spray some self etching primer on my freshly blasted 56 ford, but I'll still set it up for saturday if you guys want.

I might come...has ther eeven been a decision as to where yet? Would be nice if we did a North Bay trip one of these days! Point Reyes is a pretty cool drive! Let me know when and where I will try and make it work!

Hello Zlishous, I don't know when and where the meet will be. We are still waiting for a reply from Craig. If it works out, this meet will probably be on the coast and around Santa Cruz. Hopefully this weekend we will have all the details. Hey Craig, have you talked to the guy at Z zone? That would be cool if we had a bbq there; I want to see those rental Z's.

I agree with you Zlishous, Point Reyes is nice. A drive along highway one would make a nice drive. I am sure that we will keep this up and take a drive there.

So who is interested in having a meet? 280z, blitzkraig, zlishous, ares240z, and myself? Anyone else?

I would be interested in attending. Someone let me know when a decision is made as to the when and where, and I'll set the time aside.

Still getting the car sorted. Not much time right now though.

The 280 made it from LA, BUT I am waiting on 1 of 2 of the last Air Flow Sensors that NAPA has in their national inventory....it's in anchorage, Ak...

then my other occassional problem is a creeping oli pressure, that kind of worries me.....

Other than that it's all little BS. Exhaust leak, crappy rims, tore up dash and seats....etc.

Gonna try and see what's up with the oil pressure.

sorry guys, I've been super busy lately with work and my truck that the meet completely slipped my mind. I won't be able to make it this weekend and I don't think the Z rental place is open on sunday. I can call the guy and see if he's willing to host it himself on saturday? (btw, he has quite a few Zs on his lot so I think you guys would have to park on the street which is metered).:dead:

Hey Craig,

I would think that this coming weekend would be too soon for a meet. How is your truck coming along?

Hey everyone, How does a meet sound the following weekend? That would be the weekend of the 21st. Lets set a date! What is best for people, the 22nd of May or the 23rd? Post your comments and we can work this out.

Okay, Marc and I have come up with a couple of places that are hopefully of interest for a Z meet.

1. Mt. Hamiliton: We could bring lunch, or go out to eat, have a beautiful drive, and possibly do a little hiking. This is located near San Jose.

2. San Francisco: The city is always beautiful. I know some nice car places we could hit up, go to the beach, and have a nice lunch(bring lunch or go out, possibly bbq).

3. Black Hawk Museum: This is a museum with beautiful cars. We could take a nice drive, go to the museum, and have a pleasant lunch. The entry into the museum is pretty reasonable if I remember correctly. It is located in Blackhawk(east bay).

If any of these places seem moderately interesting to anyone, please say so. If they all seem like a drag, also say so. I hope that this make it easier. If there is a place that someone thinks is the absolute best place to have a meet, please post it.

Take care,
Ben

Y'all may want to save the Blackhawk idea for a possible meet in June when the ZONC Z Car event is there (6/23, I think). I hear that Mr K. will be there. Didn't attend last year, but the previous year the museum was open with free admission also.

Mentioned just for your consideration

EDIT: Event is 6/26/04 ! !

Thats a good idea Carl. I was aware of the show, but thanks for bringing to our attention. Maybe we should save the Blackhawk meet for that time, like Carl said.

I don't have anything planned for the weekend of May 22 so I'm open for anything. I was going to go to the NASA event at Infineon, but funds are low this month.

The meet time and destination is settled. We are going to have a meet this coming Saturday, being the 22nd of May. We are going on a drive up Mt. Hamilton. It is in San Jose and we are going to be meeting at the closest spot to park once getting off on the Alum Rock exit off of the 680 Freeway. It should be a great meet. So far the attendants are Dreco, 280z, and myself. I know, there are only a few of us, but the more the better, so Zlishous and Ares, if you guys can come it would be that much more awesome. Anyone is invited. If anyone needs anymore details on the meet, pm me and I will try to send you info as soon as possible or I can send you my Cell#.

Take care,
Ben

p.s. Don't be shy, come to the meet because the drive is going to be great.

Guus:

The elevation of the observatory is right at 4200 feet (approx. 1290 meters), so it isn't extremely high, but it is the highest peak in a radius of 85 miles. The city of San Jose where we started is at / near sea level.
