v12horse
04-14-2004, 04:39 PM
Hmm, I want to tell you some that I have been thinking of, but then I won't be able to get it. Oh well, here they are.

1. 2404lyf
2. 240z4lyf
3. s304lyf
4. Ilovemy240 (I think you can use the heart symbol for love to make it fit)
5. Zweet (thanks Zrush)

I can't think of anymore. How much is it anyway to get a custom plate?

-Ben
:classic:

p.s. I don't own a 240 so it is okay.

You can go to the DMV site and they have all the costs there and even a place to check combinations for availability.

The '77 280Z has "Z Rush" and the '72 240Z has "Itsa 72Z".

I wanted "InZane" for the red Z but the State of Florida has cracked down on what they deem as offensive plates.....wha???

Some other cool plates...

Wa Wa Zit - I saw this on a Z06 Corvette
X TA Z - Was on a Z28 Camaro
Fazt Z
Zweet
Zpeed

Just about anything that has an "S" you can use for a "Z"

I have three of them, one on each Datsun. Keep in mind that you pay the fee that the plate originally costs every year! On top of your registration.

Ones I am considering:

ALLZCHX -too funny, but my gf would kick my you know what
Z LIFE - probably what i'll go with
ZMEPASU - but what if i'm driving the speed limit?? (rare but it happens)
ZITMOVE - would look awesome if i broke down
ZMYZCAR - self explanatory

For not Z-themed:

In Australia and Victoria here we can only have 6 characters so this is what i've come up with in the past.

EATZED (AS in Eat led).
UZDUST (U see my dust).
ZHERGO (AS said above if i broke down 1 day lol).

GAV24T (So everyone will know :)).
L28PWR( L28 power).
70ZPWN (70's Porn) My g/f would hate this also.

Had a few more can't remember now.
A friend of mine had MYMADZ.
:D

Thats crazy! I was thinking of putting custom tags on mine in the future.
In Arkansas you can limit the numbers on your plates, but it cannot be more then the letters/numbers the regular plates have.

So ive got some options. But thats atleast a year away so i have to wight:( .

Here's the one on my 78 280. It has a double meaning:

I love da 'Z'

or

I love Daisey (my wife's name)

sblake01
04-15-2004, 09:05 AM
And here's the one on my 79 810 Coupe. They were advertised back then as 'The family sedan with the heart of a Z.' In an attempt to keep it Z related I won't post a picture of my truck's plate wihich simply reads '64 L320.'

A friend of ours was over for dinner last night and I asked her about this; she's from Japan and currently teaching Japanese here to high school students. She could not figure out what you were talking about and I was of little help to her. She told me that the spelling out phonetically of the letter Z has several because it can be pronounced differently in different words. Was this what you were trying to convey...the phonetic spelling of the letter Z?

Also a plate I've seen at a building I used to work at was V8 Z

I'm assuming that they didn't like the drink that much but that the car had a V8 engine in it. ROFL

I believe hs30 is the members name that typed it but not sure , I am probably describing it wrong , maybe it was the translation for zcar , it just seemed diffrent and was gonna get a tag for my z with it on it and it also is very much how you interperate the words , I will keep searching :)

When the enemy would see that and head for the door I would kill them off. It worked so well that the manager told the employees not to accept that anymore as a "code name". No problem.. My dad always referred to his (now mine) 280z as a Japanese Jaguar. I tried to get "JAP JAG" at the California DMV. They wouldn't issue it to me because DMV headquaters told them it might be offensive. I replied that because the XKE influence in the Z's design is a compliment to Datsun it would be just the opposite. They didn't agree so, no personalized plates. But, you're welcome to try it if you want to.

How about:

GDZILLA, GODZLLA (this is one that I had in mind for a Turbo Z whether it is hybrid or not). I was originally going to have this installed on my '88 Supra Turbo since it was capable of roasting the rear tires all the way through second gear and into third for a brief second. Fun, fun....

FeO2 Z----the chemistry majors will have a good time with this one, unfortunately most states want to capitalize all of the letters.

I was at the Nissan parts counter here in ol' Champaign, IL yesterday, and the parts database only went back to S130 days. I had a heck of a time with the parts guy getting him to understand what an S30 was! Nissan guys need to take Nissan history lessons...

Order the club cd, it has the Nissan assembly \breakdowns and Partnumbers, that way you can get exactly what you want instead of what a lazy parts counter guy think you want-been there too many times with Vaden Nissan here in Savannah-too many wrong parts with "No refunds on special orders"-I Just call Chloe at MidwestZ and, other than paying the bill, you're done(She has great prices too by the way)

Oh, I already have a fiche CD, and I walked in with part numbers. However, their computers have some superseding numbers that confused him, since their fiche only goes back to the S130.

And I actually went there to see how much more expensive they were than Chloe - answer: a lot (20% plus or minus)! That's what I figured, but you never know. I was just looking for some tuneup stuff this time. Believe me, Chloe probably knows my credit card number by heart by now!

I think the DMV rejected your proposal not for the combination of the words "JAP JAG", but for the use of the word "JAP".

The word "jap" is a racial slur.

An analogy would be if you wanted a plate to read, "KRAUT CAR" or "WOPMOBILE" or "NIGGERVAN". Get it?

moyest
07-22-2004, 03:43 PM
I know DAT.240 - he's in my Z club.
Problem with "international" advice on plates is that people pronounce the letter "Z" differently - "zee" vs "zed".
But here are a few I really like:

"Z YA" or "ZEE YA"

"ZEDHOT" (especially if your Zed is red, as in "red hot").

"REDZED"

"EARLY Z"

"Z FIRST" (i.e. the first)

"ZED SLED" (if you can fit that many letters - can't in Australia)

"ZED HEAD" or "ZEDHED"

"ZED NUT"

"Z 1 Z"

In other countries people are free to sell plates to other people which causes a market (with huge markups) for desirable plates.

If you build the L28 out far enough it sounds just like a V-8. When we pull into a car show everybody swarms around this little red Z wanting to see the V-8 inside. We open the hood and they all just look stuned LOL . They can't believe the mighty inline 6 can rumble with the big boys.
