I'm removing my differential to install a LSD*. While at it, I was looking to see if I need to address anything else in this 49-year old car. I've seen detailed videos on rebuilding half shafts and was wondering what could possibly require rebuilding on them since there is so little movement this component needs to experience. The universal joints appear to be fine so far. *BTW: I decided to go with a KAAZ unit because I like their technical support, ability to adjust (although not easily) and I found a great price including shipping if I order them from a Japan-based vendor. I have a nice 280Z radiator on Facebook Market Place. Somebody asked if it fits the 280ZX. I think they do, but I am not 100% certain. Can anybody confirm the fit??? Thanks!

Fuel pressure regulators for these cars are getting harder to find. The '77 and earlier EFI cars use a different design, with two regulated fuel inlets, that remains somewhat available. But I can't find the single-inlet version for the '78-83 cars anywhere. I'm looking because I'm considering an aftermarket fuel rail for my '77, which would eliminate the need for the dual-inlet type. The usual sources I'm familiar with are out of stock for the later FPR. Some owners have retrofitted aftermarket adjustable FPRs. But only a couple use vacuum reference like OEM. Also, most aftermarket FPRs only go down to 3.0 bar (OEM are 2.5 bar). And they leak down during shutoff, …

thought I would start a fresh thread to document my journey on getting a turbo engine to run and perhaps install in my 1975. I say perhaps since at this point my main interest is to learn about turbos, and if I like what I learn I may install but will make sure its reversible since my car is an excellent example of a survivor. So now that all the qualifiers have been stated... as titled its a 1983 i assume based on the P90a head with the hyd lifters. So far all I have done is mount the engine on a test run stand that and I have attached manifolds and EFI for NA testing. I will be swapping out the dizzy drive to use the standard dizzy since that is what i have used on…

I have started replacing the u-joints the 240Z I am restoring. I think the u-joints I removed are original to car. Can anyone confirm? What tells me they are factory? Well, there is a fair amount of evidence from looking at the history of the car, the receipts, and the amount of crusted dirt that was on the u-joints. Basically, the car appears to have about 120k miles on it - a notable amount of crust that I had to remove from the u-joint spider, and the snap rings I removed look just like the ones that came with the NOS u-joints (different from all the aftermarket u-joint snap rings I have ever seen). Anyway, on to some selected text from the fac…

As I was glass bead blasting the axles from the car I am restoring, I noticed something I have never seen before, an arrow on the casting of the factory (I think) u-joint: I note in the direction it is pointing, it seems to me that the area of the casting between the journals is flatter than the other, similar areas. Is the arrow indicating that a grease fitting should be installed on that "corner"? Also, can you drill and install grease fittings on installed u-joints?

Hello, I own a 280Z and in the book "How to Modify Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine" by Frank Honsowetz he describes enlarging the oil-jet from 2.0 mm to 3.17 mm to increase oil flow to the head to improve oil lubrication of the Cam and rocker arms. I found out that the L28ET uses a different oil pump and different oil jets. Unfortunaly, I cannot find the bore size of these jets anywhere and I am really curious if the Nissan engineers increased the oil flow to the cylinder head for the Turbo version. Does anybody have the opportunity to measure the openings of the oil jets for me? Thank you very much.

I am currently disassembling an L28 engine (F54 block, P79 head) from a 280ZX that I bought from a guy several years ago as a potential spare engine. When I removed the camshaft I checked the marking on the firewall end and it is clearly marked with a "K" and nothing else. It is a Nissan cam with E30 and Japan cast into it. I tried researching this camshaft but it isn't listed in the typical sources. What I've come up so far is that it may be from a Canadian 280ZX or a Maxima L24e. Does anyone know the specifications for this camshaft? Thanks, John

Mixing and matching parts from three not-nice 240s to create one really nice one, I'm confused about differentials. There is the 180 and the 200, and both seem to be shown as standard for the 240. Was one an option, or was found only on later cars? Thanks, Richard McDonel

I plan to use this in my 75 280z. The oil gutter was broken, oil leaked out from the shifter. I am in the process of replacing the missing gutter, put on some new seals while I have it apart and examine the bearings and gears. Could use some help on the oil seal on the shift rod.

I am trying to get some help on finding a way to either fix my existing stock turbo charger (looks like may have some broken compressor blades, and is very sloppy in the bearing). any one know of a good stock replacement? I am not looking for an upgrade as I want to keep the orig EFI system intact. Hopefully a direct bolt in replacement. OR should I get it rebuilt? if so any recommendations for a rebuilder?
