I will be installing heat and sound proofing on my 280z and am wondering what you all did to cover it. This would be on the firewall. Got mine from http://www.lobucrod.com/ Did you use the old firewall insulation with the black cover or installed custom carpeting? Pics would help.

As it has been much too cold here to work in the garage I thought I would try to see if I could modify one of my spare choke levers to make it a throttle lever. as the lever is make from mild steel, I drilled out the spot welds and flattened it in a vise. After bending it to be the mirror image of the original lever I welded it back together. I than made a couple of brackets and a guide for it. As I was looking for something to fill in the slot, I think this will work very well. Now I need a better long slot choke/throttle bezel as the PO cut out a larger hole for an antenna up/down switch in the one I have now.

My white interior is getting refreshed after my car gets back from paint. I'm redying all my panels, however the shock tower vinyl is toast, cut up, and was glued on. I'm thinking about getting the molded carpet kit from BD, that includes the shock tower and wheel well pieces in black carpet. This should still look fine in my car as it has black carpet etc.. anyway. The vinyl pieces aren't available for a 78, much less in white. Has anyone had any experience with the BD molded kit? Just wanted to make sure it fit ok basically. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/zr/full.aspx?Page=71

So im in the process of removing my dash. I researched this, printed out the step by step procedure, and have about everything completed except unplugging the speedometer cable. Ive searched threads and it sounds easy enough, if you have a 240z. My car is a 75 280z with factory AC(which is also coming out). Is the cable harder to access in the 280z's? Ive located the cable, and followed it up a little ways with my hand, but i dont feel and type of plug. Please help..

I have a set of new blue door skins for my '71 240Z and have been looking for a solid pair of 240Z door panel boards to mount the door skins on, but have had no luck. There was a solid pair on Ebay with pristine mounting holes a couple months back, but I got outbid at the last second. I was wondering if a set of 280Z panel boards would fit on a 240Z. I realize that they have different arm rest holes in different places, etc but I thought that possibly the 280Z door panels could be modified.

On a previous post by me I am looking for info on how to tell the difference between 240 260 and 280 seats because I ordered mechanism covers for my 280 and they didn't fit. I found in one of my Car and Driver books articles published on the 75 76 and 77 280's. These articles were printed when those years came out of the factory. There are very good pics of the interiors and all 3 years show horizontal lines in the seats. Same as mine. So I'm going to assume that the mechanism covers I bought are incorrect. If anyone has original un-restored seats can you attach pics for me. Maybe one of the mechanism side and just a straight on pic of the seat itself. Would be greatly ap…

How do you tell the difference between 240, 260, and 280 seats? Does anyone know? I want to order a seat upholstery kit. I was told by someone 6 years ago that the seats in my 280 are not 280 seats. I can't remember if he said 240 or 260. But he knew right away they were not 280 seats. He has since passed away so I can't ask him. Any help is appreciated. I recently posted pics but I guess not very good ones because no one responded. Bob

Hi, I have the possibility of some nos seat belts to replace the old ones in my 1974 260Z 2 seater, but am not sure if they will fit. The belts I think are for a 240Z, this is the image I have been sent of them and I think the Datsun UK part number is ND3 Does anyone know if these will fit my car...?? Many thanks, JK

Hi guys, I think I overdid with my sound deadening material, jute padding and a carpet in the gas pedal area. My 10 size shoe rubs against the brake pedal. The interior has been redone, the carpet/jute padding were glued there since the molded carpet was 'sticking out' too much causing interference with the gas pedal getting stuck on its own. I was afraid I was going to repeat the stuck Toyota's gas pedal syndrome :-). I found a thread which deals with replacing the pedals with aftermarket parts: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?15438-Pedal-Upgrade&highlight=gas+pedal+move I am considering a few options: 1. With a BFH and 2x4, hammer down the tunnel m…

can anyone tell me if these are 240, or 260 seats. I'm pretty sure they are not 280 seats. I ordered seat mechanism covers for a 280 and they didn't fit. So I have to assume they are 240 or 260 seats. I just need to know which. Thanks. Bob
