My '72 emergency brake handle was pretty beat up. I looked around a bit at buying a new one and then decided to try and fix my old one. The first picture is a severely cropped shot of the interior showing the brake handle before any work. The second picture shows the brake handle when I was done. The process was fairly simple: Sand out all the bad stuff with 100 grit, than 220. Then smooth it further using ScothBrite (burgandy grade grit) finally polishing it with my polish wheel on my bench grinder. It's hard to get a good picture of a shiny black object, but I'm pretty pleased with the result.

My Z has annoying habit of squeaking. Firstly i tought that the sound comes from pedals but soon i realised it came from the steering wheel. It does not squeak when turned BUT when driving over small bumps etc. I tested it and it makes the sound only when lifting it up or pushing the wheel down. It's very loud noise and i need to get rid of it. I cant locate the excact place where it comes, maybe you guys can help? :stupid:

I've dyed all of the plastic in my interior with SEM color coat, the stuff works absolutely fantastic. My problem now is that the two brackets that hold the back rest to the seat need to be repainted. I have the off white interior, and getting a nice match of off white spray paint to refinish the brackets hasn't been easy. I'm wondering if the SEM color coat would stick well to metal ? I have all new vinyl for the seat upholstery as well, and the SEM is very close. I'm tempted to give it a shot and was wondering if anyone else had any success with this ?

Is the seat seat frame the same on a 240z and 280z? Mine is rusted pretty bad and before I try to weld it I figured I might be able to find a better used one. Brian

The new vinyl is in. I still have a few bumps to rub out but I'm happy..... I put in the new rugs to see what it would look like. It was a lot of work to get the MSA kit to fit well, I had to pull and stretch and heat the material but in the end it fit OK.

A while back I purchased a restored 1978 280Z. The car looks great, inside and out, except for a poorly installed full face dash cap. The cap fits well, except in the area around the trip odometer reset and dimmer control knobs, where it gaps by almost ¾ inch. In fact, it fits so poorly that you can’t even install the two knobs. This has been bothering me ever since I received the car, so last week I thought I'd remove the existing cap, prep the dash properly and install a new one. I had no problem removing the old cap, as the double sided tape used to install it had long since lost its grip. The dash was in bad shape as I expected, but I really couldn’t find a…

Just bought new door lock key cylinders (unfortunately made in Hong Kong "ChingYing" on the key). -Installed and they won't lock or unlock the door. -Tried to swap the old lock lever and it would unlock but not lock the door. -Do I need to lengthen the linkage bar a touch? It seems that I need more "throw" to acivate the lock/unlock. Thanks, GIchiro

Does anyone have experience with the replacement seat foam offered online? I'd like to replace the driver side bottom seat foam because it has flattened, and not sure if this is an easy replace or not.

I accidently plug the wrong connector on the fan unit (6 wires) and fried the coil thingy. Any one know what it does? Also, any idea where I can get another one?
