Ok I own a 74 260z bone stock but the dual webbers. The car has been burning oil blowing gaskets here and there and is just plain worn out. So I decided to pull the motor and do a complete rebuild. But I was thinking about doing a turbo on it. I have rebuilt motors in the past even 3 280s. But I have not much knowledge on turbos to be honest. My question is what would i have to do to make my non turbo motor a turbo motor but still hold up for reliability. I know how to rebuild to stock. But i'm not really good with the performance part to make it better. Basically I want I want is to find a way to get a 13 second street car wether it being turboed or not. Reason is my old…

On the 71. Seems to read about halfway between that half point mark and the highest reading. This after car fully warmed up and cruising at 3000 RPM. Then goes back to just above halfway marker at idle. It is higher than it used to be.I don't know if this is something to be concerned about our not. Maybe just the sender? Think it means anything bad?

I was planning on removing my head on my stock '78 today, in pursuit of a suspected blown head gasket. I removed the throttle body (don't ask me why) after removing the plugs and rocker cover, and discovered that it was soaking wet on the back of the butterfly. I had previously removed by BCDD , but still had the vacuum line to the EGR system attached. I was able to pour water from the bottom of my throttle body, in the orifices that lead to the now removed BCDD. There was no moisture in the area where the vacuum is applied to the rocker cover. The only source of coolant in the area it appears, is the vacuum line to the EGR system. This line leads to a valve that is te…

Thinking of buying several timing kits that are made in Japan. The kits are labeled for a 260z. Am I correct in thinking that the only difference in the 70-78 kits is that the Slack side chain guide is different? Anyone know what makes the guide different? Can a pre 75 slack side guide be used on an L28? I'm thinking the newer guides must be an improved design?

Working away on the '78 Z. When driving I have 2 bothersome problems: accelerator is sticky, rather than smooth as I depress it with my foot speedometer is jumpy and erratic when cold, then just a bit jumpy Are these problems related to old cables? Davey G

I was kind of curious on what engine or which year car came with a 1 row pulley. I am suspecting pre-73 Z's w/o a/c. My early non-ac 260Z has a 2 row where one row that drove the smog pump has been empty for many years . Here are the weights from datsunzgarge.com: 3-row: 8 pounds 2-row: 6 pounds 1-row: 3.5 pounds I would like to get a single row more for appearance rather than any real or imagined performance gains.

I started my 72 first time in 5 months and everything was quite ok, except that radiator leaked. I had it dried months ago and now after refilling it with pure water (i needed to move the car 2meters so i didnt put any coolant) I noticed small pond of water front of the car and i inspected the radiator. Seems that the leak is in front row. So does the magical "radiator repair" fluids work? I dont want to overheat the engine but i dont want to buy new radiator..

I have this problem with the transmission where it slips out of 5th if I let off of the gas quickly:ermm:. Had this problem on a '69 VW also, but never fixed it. What causes this, and what's the fix? Thanks.

Hi all, i have to replace the clutch on my '77 280z, along with any thing that falls apart when i get it out. Is this something that i can accomplish by my self in the back yard on ramps or jack stands ? I checked with a local shop that does work on all my other vehicles and they wanted $700 out the door and i am not ready to dump that much money into her at this time :disappoin
