A venerated Z enthusiast is a day or so away from turning a brand new L18 engine over as part of a restoration. The engine is a properly new, never fired L18 assembled with a black no VIN block and SSS parts. It's life has been as a collector piece. A question I have is how many new, never fired engines are out there? I'm not talking rebuilt with new parts, but an engine that has been collecting dust for over 50 years.

Summer Age 8 Christmas Age 9 Birthday Age 10 Summer Age 11 I saved enough to buy a BB gun. When going to the store, but before leaving, I had an argument with my mom. She said I could not buy one. When I got to the store (on bike) I had guilt in the store and could not do it, so I bought a football and a chrome Z. My dad would still let us take the .22, so all worked out 🙂 The football was constructed of cheap rubber, and it cracked in half later that winter, when throwing outside in the cold. Canada eh. I got the scales out before taking the 510 off the rotisserie, front weighed in at 295lbs, the rear at 293lbs equaling 588lbs, minus both of the stripped doors at 40lbs a piece and 32lbs for the rotisserie mounts. So total stripped weight for a 73/2dr 510 comes out at 476lbs.

I found some, what I think, are some NOS parts for the Bluebird P510 here in the UK. Some confirmation from someone with more 510 knowledge than me would be great. The first, does look correct, as the part number lines up with carpartsmanual.com site, being up to 07/'68; The second NOS part came without an original Nissan box, but looks very much like the fuse box advertised here (25410-A8625) ; https://datnissparts.com/x-niles-fuse-box-70-71-datsun-510-2-wire-feed-fb24d-replaces-25410-a4901-25410-a8610-25410-a8615-25410-a8625/ The last a side front indicator (turn signal) looks like the carpartsmanual.com drawing and a quick loo…

Cody took the heater apart a year and a half ago. Since he hasn't learned this lesson yet, he misplaced the hardware. I bought new fasteners from Belmetric but we need these clips. Any idea on a source for these?

The 510 I recently picked came with an SR20DET but after opening it up all I could see is money flying away, I let it go cheap and picked up a KA24DE, 5spd trans, ECU and wiring harness for a good price. Pretty grimey but I think it has had an easy life, regular oil changes for sure, the cams are very nice, all the valves, rings and bearings are within spec. Strange thing is 3 cylinders had 175 psi on a cold engine except #3 which was 139 psi, but the rings & piston on #3 were identical to the rest, all good. The exhaust valves guides are pretty sloppy on all cylinders but more so on #3, could worn guides really cause a loss in compression of 36 psi? I can't find any…

As much as I would like to be a 510 guy I just can't afford to, so I don't know too much about them but a buddy of mine @Careless sent me a link to these guys, http://www.jbcoachwerks.com/ I thought I would post it here just in case some of you hadn't heard of them, nice looking products.

No affiliation, but thought of your 510 nerds. Could be a gold mine, or a goose chase. "Disposing of a shed full of Datsun 510 parts. Two engines, engine parts, transmissions, struts and other suspension pieces, body parts, Minilite wheels, and more. Bring a truck, make an offer, take it all away. The shed will be removed on Aug 10." https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pts/d/datsun-510-parts/6654180914.html
