I need help, im trying to restore a 240z. The engine I currently have is the original one but I was gifted a 5 speed transmission, l28 engine and Weber carbs. I just need help with assembly. I've been doing some research and I have a basic idea but here are some questions I have. Are the crankshaft and other pulleys interchangeable with current engine and new l28? Does fuel line material matter? Is there anything else I need to replace in order to complete the swap?

i bought a 72 240 last christmas. the motor is not that good anymore. so i am thinking of rebuilding one. i heard somebody said that a maxima diesel crankshaft is good. i want to know why(please), what year maxima, what are the other parts that should go with it, how will i know if the crank is from a diesel if the block is not there anymore(taking the motor out in the junk yard is very laborious). So i am thinking hunting for it at the swapmeet.

I know this has been covered ad nauseam, but I can't seem to parse together enough facts for my particular situation. Car is a 3/'70 240z. I'm fairly certain I have an R180 diff, but it's alleged to have 4.11 gears. I have a 280zx transmission on-hand that I plan on dropping in. Which drive-shaft do I need? The transmission & drive-shaft that are currently installed are going to go in my '70, so I can't start there. I need to find a drive-shaft - is there a particular year/length I should be looking for? Thanks in advance. Free beer to anyone who (a) has the right answer and ( comes to my house to pick it up

Ok I ran a search here for clutch pedal swap and spent the last hour reviewing the posts on the issue and I'm probably more confused than ever. I recently purchased a 73 240Z Automatic that came with a spare engine/ manual trans from a 72 240z (or so I'm told). So I'll be swapping the trans to stick. I know the existing pedal work will work for the change out by changing the brake pedal and adding the clutch pedal. In reading all the post there seems to be quite a bit of disagreement on what will work and what won't. Does anyone know for CERTAIN if 72 pedals will work in the 73 or do the pedals have to out of a 73? Thanks in advance

Hey guys, my wiper motor gave out while driving my Z home in the middle of a huge rain storm. Was a terrible time getting her home safe and never want to do that again. So I started the Honda motor swap, but once my center wiper linkage came off, I can’t figure out how it went on in the first place. I feel like I am missing some parts. Anyone know how this thing goes back together? Is there a section of the FSM I am missing?

Reference: 1995 Nissan Pathfinder & 1993 Nissan D21 Pickup Truck In the picture below, the top-most AC feed through bulkhead gasket came off a 1995 Pathfinder. Still very much pliable. Now this gasket does have a 'dust-shield' that wasn't original to the Z, but that could be easily removed with a razor blade. The middle blank off bulkhead gasket came off a 1993 D21 series pickup The bottom blank off bulkhead gasket is original to the 280Z I was looking at the Pathfinder as it was the newest model with a V-belt, rather than a serpentine belt. I didn't have a tape measure while I was there, but the condenser looked very close to the type and…

Will this transmission work in an L series swap if the bell housing /front case is changed? Couldn’t find a definitive answer anywhere. Thanks, Dean

So I'm finally forcing myself to get my car on the road, hopefully making it to Atlanta later this year. One of the things that I knew I would need to deal with was the throttle linkage. I have an early 260 and while I am still running the Flat Tops, I got rid of the pollution control bastard balance tube and replaced it with a balance tube from a 240. The issue is that the throttle linkage that I have is now too short. My stock 260 linkage from the balance tube to the firewall is ~9" so it doesn't engage the part that is attached to the firewall - it actually falls short by less than .25". I called Capt. O and he confirmed that the linkage on his 76' is longer. Of c…

Hi guys, Just bought a 1973 with a re-done interior and center console in good shape. But there is an empty slot where the choke handle would normally be (car has triple Mikunis so previous owner probably just yanked it). Am out looking for Series 2 240Z choke assembly with handle and cables, wondering if anyone knows if the 260z choke assembly will also work - they look almost identical. Also, anyone know what is supposed to go over the holes to the right of the choke lever slot? Thanks
