Hi there, I was referred here for answers from another forum. I purchased almost everything out of the engine bay of a 1976 280z with fuel injection. I see there are 4 plugs and 2 white wires before the firewall grommet. Research shows that 2 of them are for the Main relay and Fuel Pump Relay. Can these be replaced with an off the shelf relays? And yes I looked at the FSM, admittingly I'm pretty horrible at wiring diagrams. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys, I have a 1977 280z coupe that I have been driving without windshield wipers for quite some time now. Bit me in the arse this weekend when I was driving pretty hard on some canyon roads and then a torrential downpour occured😎Needless to say the hazards came on haha. Anyways I have the old blades sitting here with me, but I can't find a proper replacement, as there are so many options of uglier modern ones. Can anyone tell me what type of blades I have and if I should keep them, do a wiper refill, or if I should swap to something else. Problem is I have no idea where, or what size refill I would need. These look like they are also possibly missing the …

Greeting from freezing western Canada in February. When things get cold and you can’t drive, I spend the winters working on garage projects and this year is no different. Last winter I did a restoration on the latest 69 510 sedan I found, trying my dang-dest to do a as close to stock restoration as I could stand for a change. This one was kinda special, one owner, low miles, low rust and great backstory. I won’t share any of that story in this thread. Just suffice to say I had a hankering to drive a stock 510. Got it done and started driving it last fall, spent all of 2 months putting some miles on it and loving most of it. Gentle ride, decently quiet exhaust. S…

I'm doing a trans swap (auto - manual) as part of my 73 restoration. I want to run the hydraulic line from the clutch master cylinder to the frame bracket while I have the engine out of the car. I have the metal bracket that mounts on top or the right frame rail but I'm not sure where to mount it, since the auto trans cars did not have it. Can anyone give me an approx. measurement for the location on the frame rail? This is the bracket that handles the transition from the hydraulic metal line to the rubber hose that connects to the slave cylinder. I hate to have to put the engine in to determine the location, then take the engine back out to fabricate the line and we…

I've been replacing all of my 11 year old fuel hoses with braided cover hoses and decided to do the flow guide valve vapor hoses for a consistent appearance. My valve cover breather hose was already a OE braided unit but I gave it quick inspection. Uh Oh - big crack at one end, time to replace it as well. A visit to MSA showed me a repro unit for (choke!) $90! 😲 So it was back to Belmetric for possible options. The valve cover fitting is 16mm in diameter but Belmetric only has 14mm and 17mm hoses. The breather hose is about 14" so I ordered two feet of the 17mm hose at the most attractive price of $7.15/ft. (today it is $8.01). At 1mm oversize, obviously it is an easy fit…

I am looking for front bumper rubber end caps to a 75 280z. I have looked at Z Car Depot & Z Source for this part. Are there other reputable sites including junkyards that are good sources for used parts? If these parts are hard to find, is there an alternative idea that might make the ends of the front bumper look good?

I'm in the process of a 73 240Z restoration project, currently working on an auto to manual trans swap. When I bought the car I got an engine & manual trans with it from a 72 240Z. First: Ther is no netural safety switch on the 72 trans, only a back up light switch. Is there anyway to add one? I thought one way may be to use the existing wires that went to the inhibitor switch on the auto and run them to a stop light type switch, and fabricate a bracket the would activate when the clutch pedal is depressed. The only drawback is that the clutch pedal would always have to be depressed, even when the car is in netural, in order to start it. Second: I know the…

Hi Guys, As far as I am concerned, gear ratios are black magic so I was hoping to lean on you guys for advice on how to pair a transmission with a diff. I am replacing the 4 speed in my 280z next year. I find myself in the enviable position of having two rebuilt 5 speed transmissions (1977 280z and 1980 280ZX) and 2 R200s (3.545 & 3.9). Is there any advantage to mixing and matching transmission and diffs? (e.g. a 77 open ratio 5-speed with 3.9 or a 80 close ratio 5-speed with 3.54) And are there different applications for the close ratio versus the open? (e.g. one is better for cruising and hills versus one is better for acceleration) …

I purchased a non running, 78 280z from an estate. The EGR had been removed and a block-off plate had been installed. I put a solid fitting into the exhaust header to seal it off. Under the area where the block-off plate sets, there is a threaded hole. Originally it was fitted with the pipe that went to the header. Do I need fill that threaded hole with a plug?
