Heres a pic of my (RHD passenger) Left side suspesion strut. Its not supposed to be unscrewed like that is it. The other side is done up so you cant see any threads. Would this cause excessive negative camber? The front left had excessive negative camber compared to the right, Also I think the metal washer was missing of the back of the (damn whats that rod thing called that sitcks out from the frame rail to the lower controll arm not the sway bar the other one) bush.

Hi Everyone: I'm getting ready to install a rebuilt L24 in my car and I'd like to get your ideas on whether I should used a stock Nissan OEM clutch assembly or should I go with a Centerforce I assembly. The car will be a street only car, but will see some "spirited" driving. Does anyone use the Centerforce I setup, and how do you like it? Is it significantly better than the stock OEM assembly? Thanks in advance for any information you care to share on this. Thank you, Carl

Hi friends, restoring a '72 240 Z I got a problem when I put the wheel on the left front axle, the tire get's in contact with the spring seat! The strut is from a car that had a crash at the left side. As it is extremely difficult to get 240Z parts here in Germany I have a problem. I got offered a strut from a 73 260Z 2+2 and from a 74 260Z 2+2. I saw that the springs are different, that's no problem exept if the spring seats would be different. Can I just bolt on the mentioned struts instead of the original '72 one or do I run into troubles? Thanks for your support in advance Rolf

This '73 I am thinking about keeping has a rear-orineted sway bar mounted on the rear. Looks like it has been there about 30n years. It also has the brackiets for a front-oriented rear sway bar welded to the frame. They are identical to the brackets on a 280Z--socket on one side and thread on the other that holds a flat peice of metal that holds the bushing in. There is no sway bar installed in the front-oriented position--just the empty brackets. The rear-oriented one is installed on the mustache bar/rear diffy cross member as you see quite a few 240's.... A. Can someone explain this? B. What would be wrong with installing a stock front-oriented sway bar in the br…

I have searched for directions on removal of the mustache bar on a '77 280z and found none. All i found are for older 240z's and my bar will not come off using those instructions. Looking at the bar, i thought it would come off easy without having to disassemble the rear suspension and exhaust :disappoin

Hi all, Recently pass smog test. Been enjoying it every chance I get. Even volunteer to do errands for wife just so I can drive it!!!! I've notice the steering wheel can only make one full circle and the "distance/length" of the tire doesn't cover much. to put it into perspective, I'm having trouble making a 2 lands U-turn. What I mean is the other day I at McDonald's drive through, I had trouble making a right U-turn. My Van and sedan seem able to make a right U-turn quite easily. Of course it inches outside toward the other land a bit, but not as much as the Datsun. I had to back-up a bit in order to make a turn. I had to make a three-point…

How reliable and durable are the '78 280Z auto transmissions? Anything special to check or look-out for?

hi all, i was just at the junkyard where apparently today was "Z rear disc fiesta!" apparently... I came across 4 '79 Z's with rear disc brakes and 2 '82 Z's with rear disc brakes... From my cursory inspection it looks like the spacing for the mounting bolts of the bracket of the rear caliper to the rear hub is the same... BUT the two calipers ('79 vs '82) look very different. Does anyone here have a preference one over the other and why - yes this would be for retrofitting them to my '73 240Z... to be more specific the '79 appears to be a one piece design and it extends much deeper towards the center of the car than its '82 counterpart which has a more modern "2 pieces h…

Any straight advice on this? Will it clear the tunnel? Would I be best advised to go look for a 77-78 5-speed? Should I use the 240Z driveline or not? It will be bolted up to the '81 R200 rear end. Sorry Mike, I realize I just crossed over into two topics. Whoopsie... ------------------ "Go into emptiness, strike voids, bypass his defences; hit him where he does not expect you" -Lao Tzu
